Star of India in Playa de las Américas

"Went tonight, lad on the street handed me a flyer/menu, so said I'd try it out. Being from Glasgow I'm use to a good curry, so the bar was somewhat high. This place met it and more, starters were excellent, quite clearly freshly prepared, not that cheap spongey chicken either. Mains were excellent, chicken korma and a lamb curry, lamb was soft as you like and the korma was excellent too. Lovely to get a curry and not have a layer of oil on it. All this for 13 euro something. Place is also spotless, would recommend to anyone who likes a decent curry. Will be back again when I'm back in Tenerife next year."

"We'd seen good reviews about Star of India, so, decided to give it a try last night 4/2/26. I must say, we weren't disappointed, we had the €13.95 banquet which was excellent. Everything was freshly cooked and piping hot. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and shall be going again before the end of our holiday. "It is extremely rare that I give 5 stars across the board but this place definitely deserves it. From the outside it may seem an unassuming venue but it is definitely worth walking in. The service was absolutely fantastic and all the staff were very friendly throughout. The food was absolutely fantastic with very good portions. We paid a total of €85 for 3 people with 4 drinks, 2 starters, 3 mains, 2 nans and 2 rice and all left with a full belly. Definitely worth a visit"

"The name suits the restaurant because it was the star of all the indian resturants we visted during our week here! This was the only place we went back to for another round of delicious food! The portions were not huge but defintley the most generous among the four indian restaurant we visited. Besides the food, we totally recommend their Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri, because it's the best one we've ever had - anywhere. The lamb meat was perfectly tender, it melted in your mouth. Two lamb dishes we recommend is Lamb Balti and Lamb Korma. You can choose the level of spices you want, which we appreciated. Chicken Tikka Pasanda was very delicous. But if you want your food more tender, skip the Tikka. The man who served us did an excellent job and made sure he got the order right. The prices were also better than at other indian restaurants. Highly recommended!"

"Amazing. It is one of the best Indians I have ever visited. Didn't realise Tenerife had such lovely Indian food. We both had the set meals, which is literally 4 courses for only 14 euros. Can't go wrong. Great value. Food 10/10 for everything we had. Sister restaurant Star of Bengal in Los Christianos was exactly the same. Portions are huge, and we had to take some away. I don't know how they make money on the set meal. In my opinion, it is unreal value."

"Top restaurant on all levels!! The serving crew and especially the Chef’s crew truly managed to surprise us! Living in Mumbai for 2 years and traveling all over the world while trying all kinds of regional Indian cuisine rich of spices and sauces, we came to Star of India with high expectations…and we were not disappointed. "Star of India found just a ten minute walk from the Golden Mile is outstanding quality . We have eaten here on 5 occasions during our stay in Playa de Las Americas . For €13.95 per person you can get the set menu which allows you to choose various curries off the menu for your main . We have had a different curry each time and I can tell you every single one of them unique and crammed full of flavour!! Our takeaway back home is now left looking very bleak because their range of curries does not come close to here …. No idea where our go to curry is now when we go back home . The service is top notch and so friendly , we would much rather put our money to smaller family run businesses than the corporate companies on the golden Mile and surrounding areas . This offers exceptional quality and very very affordable , too good not to miss if you are heading to Teneriefe . For me the Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi was the best but it was so hard to decide because the quality is consistent throughout the curries . Absolute belter !!"

"We always come here with my husband and get the €13.95 deal. The first time we came here we thought we’d have to choose just one starter but we were told that we would get a bit of all the starters listed (I think about 6 starters) and then a main dish and a side. This deal is great, the portions are great and we always take what’s left home as it’s too much to eat in one time! The staff are always lovely and friendly and the food is amazing our favourite Indian in Tenerife!"
